Handy Calculator App Reviews

38 Customer Reviews:

Being that this is a utility app…I cant really call it "my favorite" or anything - but its pretty much perfect for what it does. I use it when I pay bills, I use it when I need to calculate something…and its definitely my most-used app (ok, minus the web browser and ical). I love how it fades itself - but the numbers stay visible, so when Im calculating and then updating a spreadsheet, I can still see it, right there on top. Kudos to the developers for the constant updates and improvements.

Simple and effective!

Nothing fancy, but just what I needed with some clever functions (copy & paste, fading)!

Exactly what I was looking for

Fades away when not in use. And it has all the simple functions that I need with large numbers and symbols. Great app.

I have to add numbers a lot at my job for bills (but Im not an accountant) and I dont like using my phone or the dashboard app. If you slip a number up, you have to start over. That is a problem when you are 20 numbers in. The handy calc app rules because you can just fix the number before you total. One major problem of mine solved. The turning transparent feature turned out to be so useful too. It just makes my job faster and more accurate. I had a bug or limitation I found on a version of this app and contacted the developers. I had not only a response the next morning, but an updated version of the app with the bug fixed in the email. Its kinda rad and kinda sad that Ive never been treated this good by a company ever in my life. So thanks for that guys!

I bought this app because I needed to copy/paste from a document with the plus sign, something that the Mac calculator would not do. But I cannot then copy/paste from the calculator back into another program.

I bought it for $2 tuesday because… well because I felt like spending 2 dollars… but its deceptively handy. I wouldnt have expected this app to increase my productivity, but it in the few hours Ive had it, it has. Dont listen to the guy who said it doesnt allow you to copy and paste into the app.. It does.. I dont really see how you could think it doesnt. highlight and ⌘v… not too difficult. One thing though… Xcode, Sparrow, iTerm, Textmate, Word… these apps belong in my dock… a calculator does not … Give me the option to put it in the tool bar, or Im taking away a star. You have a month. Come February 22nd, if this calculator isnt in my toolbar, youll have 4 stars. And, while Im at it… hot keys would also be much appreciated… I would like to be able to hit ⌘k or something to clear it out Other than that, great job.

Exactly what I was looking for in a calculator for my Mac. It has a backspace key, something that ALL calculators on computers should have--the others are modeled after traditional calculators, which is completely asinine. I had been looking for the closest thing to CalcBot for the iPhone, and this is it! Well worth the $4.99. Thanks!

Very cool!

Very elegant app that blends with the rest of the os. Easy and simple to use, I like it. Great job!

Character limit makes this useless for me.

First time adding a stack of checks I hit the character limit half way through. Tried once and uninstalling.

I have ~10 calculators and this is the one I use for simple math. Large easy to see numbers. Not those tiny grey numbers on a grey background a la the bionic eyes of Apple. Works with the num pad too. 5  all the way!!!!! Thanks ... Ken

My fav calc app of all time

I love this calculator. It does percentages right, it fades out when not needed. Very simple to use.

aloshka09 · 11 years ago

I like the feature which has it fading when not in use. I like the design and the colors but it needs to let the user set the decimal point position. Without that one feature, it can be my favorite calculator.

I downloaded a few other free calculater apps. two others were stuck on the top of screen but this one I can just locate where convenient for me to use. …a few things I require for a simple free calculater app. this does what it does and I am happy with this.

Give it a try, it’s free! This calculator is the only one that meets all my need among the 5 calculator apps I just testet in App Store. 1. You can choose to let it fade or hide when not focused, exactly what I needed. 2. It launches very quickly. 3. It keeps your equation so you know what you’re calculating, and you can even continue adding stuff after getting inital answer. 4. You can copy the answer with mouse or keyboard, although copying using keyboard takes more than necessary keys. I would donate if there’s a link to do so.

Doesn’t work with usb number pad

I have a wireless number pad for my MacBook and it doesn’t work with this app. OS X El Capitan.

Simple Genius!

I can’t think of a single change that would make this app better, seriously!

Debodanman · 10 years ago

Real fast calculations on tap. Added benefit of being able to edit and recalculate on the fly. I’d be willing to pay for a couple of bells and whistles (i.e.: Unit Conversions, Square Root etc.) but this definitely does what I was looking for in a familiar format.
